Mark R. Brown, 63, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Grace Community Church, 2707 Dubuque St. NE, North Liberty, with a time for fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Community Church or Nina's education fund.
Mark was born Aug. 6, 1951, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Robert and Margaret (Rod) Brown. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1969 and attended Iowa State. He was an active member of Grace Community Church and regularly led Bible study and men's study groups.
Mark enjoyed reading and writing in his spare time. He also enjoyed collecting rare board games.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (John) Garland of Angel Fire, N.M.; one granddaughter, Nina Garland; two sisters, Debra Brown of Crescent City, Calif., and Susan (Russ) Richenberger of McKinney, Texas; six nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Michael) Howe of Liberty, Ill., Sarah (Larry) Emersen of Moore, Okla., Trevor Kennedy of Crescent City, Calif., Rusty (Meghan) Richenberger of Prosper, Texas, Toby Richenberger of McKinney, Texas, and Haley (Chris) Wilcox of Aubrey, Texas.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Carol Brown, on May 12, 2004.
