Marjorie Burge Young died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Born in 1925, Marge lived in Eastern Iowa all her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Julanne Young Sawyers (John); son, John Burge Young (Connie); five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Marge graduated from nursing school at the University of Iowa and worked as a registered nurse for many years, finishing her career as head burse in Mercy Medical Center's ER. She was an avid and excellent golfer, winning many tournaments at Elmcrest Country Club and surrounding areas. Marge was a very talented, active and hard-working woman. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and PEO. She enjoyed playing bridge and was passionate about antiques. She treasured her family in Lone Tree, Iowa City and North Liberty.
