Cedar Rapids
Marjorie Ann (nee Porter) Pelley, 82, (widow of Bill Pelley, formerly with Harkers in Le Mars, Iowa) passed away quietly at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, after an extended illness on July 4, 2014.
Marjorie was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1950. Marjorie and Bill Pelley were married in June 1952 and were happily married for 50 years. Over those years Marjorie and Bill moved to Marshalltown, Davenport and back to Le Mars, then to the Derby, Kan., where they stayed until Bill's death in 2002. Marjorie then relocated to the St. Louis, Mo., area to be near her daughter. When her daughter and son-in-law moved to Cedar Rapids, Marjorie stayed close and came full circle back to Iowa.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Pelley) Murphy, and son-in-law Russell Murphy. Marjorie has two grand-children, Bill Murphy (Randi), Tulsa, Okla., and Suzy (Murphy) Cook (Justin), Springfield, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Alaina (3), Kaiya (3), Kellen (11 months) and Cade (1 month).
Marjorie has one sister who preceded her in death, Elaine Moss (Fort Dodge).
She is survived by sisters, Helen Rodee (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and Patricia Sprecher (Rockford, Ill.); brother, Albert "Bud" Wiuff (Waterloo); brother-in-law, Dolan Pelley, (Derby, Kan.); and sister-in-law, Sue (Pelley) Baylouny, (Stratford, N.J.).
Marjorie was an avid bridge player and enjoyed acting in community theatre in LeMars. Marjorie also volunteered at the Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.
Her bright smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Per Marjorie's request, no service will take place.
