Marjorie Marcene O'Meara, 94, a resident of The Meth-Wick Com-munity, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Central City, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at the care center. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednes-day, April 22, at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Mike Metz. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Crema-tion Service, Marion, and one hour before the service at the church on Wednes-day. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her children, Kathleen "Kathy" (Steve) Hodges of Carroll, Patrick (Margie) O'Meara of Lincoln, Neb., and Kelly (Debbie) O'Meara of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Shannon (Jarred) Craddock, Megan (Jed) Starner, Katie (Brian) Shelton, Matthew (Nikki) Hodges, Elizabeth Hodges and Erin (Jim) McArthur; and nine great-grand-children, Owen, Eli, Zoe, Taylor, Trenton, Maisie, Cassidy, Maddux and Preston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; grandson, Andrew Hodges; and sister, Hollis Sweet.
Marjorie was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Edward W. and Grace R. (Ball) White. She graduated from Central City High School, and married Benjamin Hugh O'Meara on Dec. 7, 1941, in Central City.
Marjorie worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Tampa, Fla., during World War II. After the war, Marjorie stayed at home to raise her family. After her children were grown, Marjorie spent many years working at Kenwood Park Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of United Methodist Women and the Eastern Star.
In her early years, Marjorie enjoyed travel, golf and playing bridge with Ben. Later, she enjoyed her weekly coffee group, listening to the piano at Von Maur, walking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
