Marjorie B. (Yoder) Shaver McArtor, 86, died Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City.
A Celebration of Life will be at 5 p.m. Monday, April 24, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with Pastor Larry Black officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for Essence of Life Hospice, 3207 220th Trail, Amana, IA 52203.
Marjorie Belle (Yoder) Shaver McArtor was born June 25, 1930, in Iowa City, the daughter of Urie and Lorena (Beeney) Yoder. She graduated from Kalona High School in 1949. On June 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gail Shaver at Kalona Christian and Baptist Church. Gail died March 21, 1985. She worked as an operating room technician at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, and later as anesthesia billing supervisor. On July 7, 1990, she was united in marriage to Paul Duane McArtor. Duane died Feb. 7, 2003.
Marjorie was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton. She enjoyed fishing, camping, farming, jigsaw puzzles, coloring in adult coloring books and spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Claudia Bishop of Kalona, Eric (Tarianne Ames) Shaver of Mechanicsburg, Ill., Nancy Wasson of Kinross, Gale (Dave) Van Hauen of North Liberty and Robert Shaver of Iowa City; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Jeanne (Craig) Mulford of Mount Pleasant, James (Sara) McArtor of Crawfordsville, Kenneth (Brooke) McArtor of Swedesburg, Jerry McArtor of Mount Pleasant and Ron (Jeryl) McArtor of Winfield; 16 stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one brother, Mervin Yoder; sons-in-law, Ken Bishop, Kim Wasson and Terry Meade; and a stepson, John McArtor.
