Marjorie Behrends Freeman, 82, of Monticello, passed from this life Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello, where her funeral service will commence at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Darryl Larson.
Marjorie was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Monticello, the daughter of Ben and Clara (Ricklefs) Behrends. She graduated from Monticello High School with the class of 1950 and went on to earn her degree in business. She worked in administration in the entertainment industry. She married William E. Freeman on Aug. 22, 1973, in Orange County, Calif., returning to Monticello in 2009 after her retirement.
Marge was passionate about live theater, its music and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Joan (James) Berends of Monticello, William Karr of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Lisa (Clem) Primer of Monticello; six grandchildren, Brian (Wanda) Hughes, Carrie (Jack) Schroeder, Brandon (Sarah) Kraus, Adam (Andrea) Kraus, Regan and Baxter Primer; and seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Swallom, Madison Schroeder, Courtney Kraus, Ryah and Ryne Hughes, Kale and Shiloh Kraus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Richard O'Grady; and a brother, Lyle Behrends.
Memorials are preferred to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Monticello.
