MARISA CLAIRE (SLAGER) SMITH

Marisa Claire (Slager) Smith, 53, died at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha on Sunday, April 17, 2016, from a short battle of cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Garrison Farmers Mercantile Hall, 100 W. Main St. Private committal services will be held.
Memorial contributions are welcome and should be directed to the family.
Marisa was born June 10, 1962, in Vinton. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1980. She worked at LaGrange Pharmacy for 16 years. She loved spending time with close family and most of all her grandkids. She loved antiquing, doing flea markets and she loved her dog, Chloe.
Marisa is survived by her longtime companion, Darrell Dvorak Jr.; her daughters, Ashley Smith of Mount Vernon and Chelsea Smith of Vinton; her stepdaughter, Miranda Dvorak of Lamoni; her stepson, Darrell Dvorak III of Nevada; three sisters; two brothers; and four grandkids, Kaiden, Ty, Lily and Amira.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Robert Slager.
