MARION BREZINA Cedar Rapids Marion "Faye" Brezina, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Me-morial Park Funeral Home, with a rosary service starting at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation beginning an hour before, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard; four children, Rick (Gina) and Tim (Kellye), both of Georgia, and Chad (Heidi) and Jill, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchild, Sophie; two brothers, Jack and Gary DeMeyer; a sister, Rose Rhinehart; and special companion, her cat, Shasta. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marion "Faye" DeMeyer was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Marie VanOtegham DeMeyer. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School with the class of 1959. Faye was united in marriage to Richard Brezina on Sep. 16, 1961, in Belle Plaine. A lifelong learner, Faye loved to travel and was an avid gardener and reader. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
