Marion Athlyne Mordorst, 91, of Marion, passed away on Christmas day 2021. Services are private. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Marion was born on Dec. 16, 1930, in Lamb, Ky., the daughter of Hazel and Emma (Proffit) Simmons. She meet the love of her life, Jack D. Mordorst, at Cemar Acers Skating Rink in Cedar Rapids. They were married on Marion's birthday on Dec. 16, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She enjoyed eating out and afternoon drives around town in her car. Marion also adored her grandsons and the time spent with them was priceless. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Dean) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her grandsons, Justin Kehoe of Florida and Brock (Sierra) Kehoe of North Carolina; and her two great-grandsons, Dylan and Ray Kehoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Emma Simmons; her husband, Jack D. Mordorst; a son, William Mordorst; and her siblings, Bill Simmons and Margaret Shirley Miller.
