MARILYNN ROSE ATKINSON
Manchester
Marilynn Rose Atkinson, 91, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
She was born June 1, 1926, at home on the farm near Ryan, the daughter of Bennie and Gladys (Fullerton) Worm. Marilynn was raised in the area and graduated from Manchester High School in 1943. After graduation, she worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Manchester.
On April 30, 1944, Marilynn was united in marriage to Donald "Dutch" Atkinson at Golden Church near Ryan. This union was blessed with three children. Together they farmed near Ryan. Marilynn was a homemaker. In 1969, after she raised her family, she worked as a librarian for the West Delaware Community Schools until her retirement in 1990. The couple was blessed with 73 years of marriage.
Marilynn was a lifelong member of Golden Congregational Church near Ryan. She loved reading, playing 500, and traveled to every state. Marilynn loved wintering in Florida with Dutch. She enjoyed her plants and watching the birds. Marilynn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her friends.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her three children, Gary (Elaine) Atkinson of Ryan, Sharon (Gary) Childers of Durango and Don (Marilyn) Atkinson of Manchester; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Jane) Worm of Bellevue; one sister, Benita Husmann of Roseville, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Velma Atkinson of Edgewood; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dutch Atkinson on June 7, 2017; and a brother, Jim (Lorene) Worm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Golden Congregational Church and/or Good Neighbor Home.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, with Pastor Ed Moreano officiating. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
