Marilyn Louise Tucker,
91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at Winslow House Care Center in Marion. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Marilyn was born Dec. 2, 1925, the daughter of Claude and Onnalee (Fitts) Benson, in Belmond. She was a graduate of Grinnell and Coe colleges. Marilyn taught second grade for over 25 years in the Cedar Rapids school district. She had many hobbies, including golf, playing bridge and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play football. Marilyn served on the Foster Care Review board for several years. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Marilyn had a strong faith and devotion to the church and to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. More than anything, she loved spending time with her sons and their families. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two sons, Steve (Ellen) Tucker and Jim (Dawn) Tucker; five grandchildren, Robby (Nathalie) Tucker, Maria Tucker, Kyle (Katelyn) Tucker, Ian (Mackenzie Black) Tucker and Ramsey Tucker; one great-grandson, Caeleb Salisbury; and cousin, Del (Lolly) Eggers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Benson; and two infant siblings.
