Marilyn Sams, 85, of Hiawatha, formerly of Redwood Falls, Minn., passed away May 20, 2014, in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with heart disease and leukemia. Me-morial services will be 11 a.m. May 29 at First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial is in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials to Mercy Foundation, Cedar Rapids, or First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls.

Marilyn Sams was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa, to John and Anna (Ellison) Goldsmith. On June 7, 1947, she married Leland Sams in Leeds. They were married for 44 years. Marilyn lived in Redwood Falls for 60 years. The most important role in Marilyn's life was being a wife and mother.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Steve (Andrea), the Rev. David, Keith (Jan) and Brian (Darla); grandchildren, Erik, Melissa and Shawn Sams, Jill Hayden and Cody Sams; great-grandchildren, Sami, Hunter, Adriana, Drake, Ava and Jase; and sister, Anna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lloyd and John; sisters, Luella and Joyce; and granddaughter, Hilary.
