MARILYN RAE (STARKWEATHER) MCKINLEY
Meridian, Idaho
Marilyn Rae (Starkweather) McKinley, 78, of Meridian, Idaho, passed on to Heaven Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at Spring Creek Assisted Living in Meridian, from complications of Alzheimer's. She is now praising her Savior in person!
Marilyn was born in Huntsville, Ala., on Feb. 23, 1943, to William L. and Evelyn G. (Foster) Starkweather. She was raised in Cedar Rapids, where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961, and then earned her nursing degree at the University of Iowa.
She married the love of her life, Richard McKinley, at Salem United Methodist Church on June 26, 1965, where they were both members since early childhood.
Marilyn was a nurse in California before becoming a loving mom to three beautiful daughters. She enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship, appreciating God's beauty in flowers, and boating and camping with Dick and their girls. The family resided in California, Alaska and Canada. Marilyn and Dick retired on the lake near Chattanooga, Tenn., where they made many of their best memories boating, entertaining, and making dear friends. They moved to Idaho in 2010 to be close to family.
Marilyn had a generous and thankful spirit, and she enjoyed giving smiles and genuine interest to everyone she met. She loved shopping, long phone conversations, brunch after church, selecting special gifts and even giving from her own abundance.
Marilyn is survived by daughters, Ann (Drew) Bianco and Heather (Ben) Rice, all of Meridian, Idaho; sister, Susan (Bill) Heald, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 11 wonderful grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; and daughter, Karen Malo.
Marilyn's and Dick's ashes will be scattered along the beautiful Tennessee River this fall.
