Marilyn Betty Kruse was born February 19, 1951, in Clinton, Iowa, to Harold and Betty (Petersen) Kruse. After graduating from Central Community Schools in DeWitt in 1969, she attended Clinton Community College, and worked for Barnes Foodland. Marilyn was certified as a legal secretary and worked at local businesses. One of her favorite jobs was working in a greenhouse. Marilyn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, where she taught Sunday School and was on the Grace Camp board. Growing up, she was a 4-H member and later served as a leader.
She was married to Ronnie Peters on March 20, 1971. Their union was blessed with 3 children. They later divorced. On March 25, 1995, she married Robert Mundt and enjoyed 28 years together until his passing in 2023.
Marilyn loved living in the country and being on the farm. She had a special place in her heart for animals. She enjoyed watching the cattle and horses in the nearby pasture. Marilyn loved baking, quilting, attending quilting events with friends, and crafting. Her greatest joy by far was family, and she cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great aunt. Her love language was service, and she was happiest when she was helping others.
Surviving are her children, Michelle (Corey) Nuehring of Marion, Mike (Jenny) Peters of Grand Mound, and Mark Peters of DeWitt; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Colin) Aschbrenner, Cole Nuehring, and Claire Nuehring, Gemma Peters, and Viola Peters; siblings, Bill (Susan) Kruse, Janet (Jim) Ham, and Jolene Kruse; brother-in-law, Larry Spain; Bob’s children, Scott (Lonnie) Mundt of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Chad Mundt of Greenville, South Carolina, and their children; nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Alan (Janice) Kruse, and her sister, Nancy Spain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Church Camp and Camp Courageous.
