Marilyn L. (Primrose) Bickal, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at her son’s home in Toddville with family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time, also at the funeral home.
Marilyn was born March 5, 1945, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids to William and Irma (Kelso) Primrose. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, with the Class of 1963, and attended Kirkwood Community College. She was united in marriage to David Bickal on August 3, 1963, at First Baptist Church in Vinton. Marilyn worked at Phelan’s in Cedar Rapids for 12 years and founded her own framing shop “The Free Bird Gallery” in Palo.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening and loved to sew Memory Teddy Bears and had completed over one hundred through the years. She also enjoyed oil painting, and truly loved the Schnauzers she and Dave raised.
She is survived by her husband, David of Palo; son Greg (Martha) Bickal of Toddville; and her granddaughter, Mia Bickal.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Todd; sister, Judith Sullivan; and brothers, Bill Primrose, and Bob Primrose.
