Kalona
Marilyn Grout, 86, of Kalona, died peacefully Thursday morning, May 25, 2017, at her home. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Kalona United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.
A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Historical Village and Kalona Public Library.
Marilyn was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Kalona, Iowa.
She is survived by her six children, Kathy Grout of Iowa City, Sandy (Jim) Gingerich of Wellman, Cherie (Daryl) Baker of Muscatine, Ron (Kathy) Grout of Grand Junction, Colo., Rick Grout of Riverside and Becky (Bob) Ihrig of Riverside; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great- grandchildren.
Preceding Marilyn in death were her husband, Edwin, in 1987; and her parents, Lovell and Grace Strickler.
