Marilyn Meta Douglas, 76, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at her home in Cocoa, Fla.
Marilyn was born in October 1940 in Three Rivers, Mich., to parents Richard and Meta (Gifford) Blood. She moved to the Cedar Rapids area at a young age where she lived most of her life. It was while she lived in Marion that she met Richard "Doug" Douglas, and they were married shortly after.
A devout Christian, she was very active in Open Bible Church, running its nursery for a time, as well as serving as a greeter with her husband. Toward the end of her life, she attended Cocoa First Assembly Church, where she was quickly loved by its congregation.
In her professional life, she primarily worked at Rockwell Collins, from where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Robert.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Gary) Bilyeu, Meta (Tim) Allen and Jim (Becky) Metcalf; her grandchildren, Jeremy and Coady Barnes, Meta and Carol Allen, and Bryn Metcalf; her 10 great- grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; her brother, Richard; her sisters, Sally and Debbie; and her stepsister, Linda.
Services will be at Open Bible Church, Cedar Rapids, at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20. There will be a visitation at the church preceding the services starting at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
