Marilyn Catherine Musser, 79, of Solon, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center. Celebration of life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St., SW. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, located at Maier Avenue SW, Riverside, Iowa, (3.5 miles west of Hills).
Marilyn was born Feb. 12, 1943, in Riverside, the daughter of August and Agnes (Rotenburger) Schmidt. She attended St. Mary's school through her junior year and graduated from Riverside High School in 1961. Marilyn was united in marriage to Richard Musser on Aug. 29, 1964, at St. Mary's in Riverside. They lived in rural Johnson County, near Hills, until they moved to their current location near Solon in 1970. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, attending activities of her children and grandchildren and watching sports on TV, especially football.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Marty (Kathy) Musser of Madrid and Mary (Mike) Bender of Solon; grandchildren, Jake Musser of Portland, Ore., Abby Musser of Iowa City and Joshua (Kayla) Bender of Boise, Idaho; siblings, Marie Gallagher and William (Beth) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Judy Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, LeRoy, Bernard and Carl.
Memorials may be directed to the family who will distribute them to various charities.
