Marie W. Wheeler, 100, of Cedar Rapids, died Sat-urday, April 12, 2014, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, officiated by the Rev. Nathan Williams. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marie's name may be sent c/o Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Marie Wilhelmina Wheeler was born July 10, 1913, in Hallam, Neb., to William F. and Emma M. (Osterthum) Weilage. She was united in marriage to Floyd M. Wheeler on Dec. 24, 1940.
Marie worked as a seamstress for Armstrong Department Store until her retirement in 1975 and out of her home after that time.
She was a member of Echo Hill United Presbyterian Church.
She loved sewing and gardening. She was very good with flowers, and loved to see the irises and tulips blooming in spring. She enjoyed challenging herself with crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and she was a talented baker, especially known for her pies.
Marie was a very personable woman who will be remembered as soft-spoken and kind.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Tharp of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; son, Floyd M. (Janet) Wheeler Jr. of Crawfordsville, Ind.; three grandchildren, Danna (Roger) Norlund of Minnesota and Brian Wheeler and Brandon (Amanda) Wheeler, both of Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Andrea, Tammy and Patience Tharp, all of Minnesota, Justin (Carley) Wheeler of Indiana and Bradley Wheeler of Nebraska; niece, Cindi Compton; and five nephews, William, Daryl, Robert, Donald and Timothy Weilage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1974; two sisters, Stella "Sally" Compton and Elvia "Elvie" Weilage; and one brother, Earl "Bud" Weilage.
