MARIE JOSEPHINE THOMSON Mount Vernon Marie Josephine Thomson, 91, died of Alzheimer's disease on Sept. 28, 2015, in Springfield, Mo. Memorial services will be Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at 1 p.m., with services at 2 p.m. Jo's ashes will be interred with her husband's in Missouri Military Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. Jo was born April 7, 1924, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Henry J. and Marie G. Boyle Tiedemann. As a young girl, her family moved to Stanwood. She graduated from Stanwood High School. Jo was married to Murl Howard Thomson in Des Moines on Sept. 19, 1942. She and Murl made their home in the Mount Vernon area for 33 years. During that time, she was a homemaker, co-owner of Thomson Radio and TV, farm wife and restaurant owner. In 1975, she and Murl moved to Branson, Mo., lived on Lake Taneycomo, and owned and operated the Ozark Family Steakhouse and the Cotton Picker Lounge. In 1992, they retired and moved to Springfield, Mo. Following Murl's death, Jo returned to Mount Vernon, where she resided for several years. Her children are Jo Ann (David) Stoner, Mount Vernon; John and Robert (Nancy) Thomson, Springfield, Mo., and Gary Thomson (deceased). She also is survived by her brother, Bernard (Marilyn) Tiedemann, Ely; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jo is now singing with the angels in God's choir. She joins her husband, Murl; her parents; brother, Bill Tiedemann and his wife, Claudelle; and nieces, Laura Tiedemann and Ann Tiedemann Angell. Memorials in her name may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis, the music department at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
