Marie Dorothy Fahy Schenkelberg, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, June 15, 2015. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Mary (Mike Spratt) Pruden of Cedar Rapids; four sons, John (Anita) and Paul (Judy) Schenkelberg of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Rhonda) Schenkelberg of Chicago and Eric (Veronica) Schenkelberg of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Jenny) Pruden, Lauren (J. Michael) Sharon, Kelly (Matthew) Kruckeberg, Michael (Jackie) Schenkelberg, Laura (Matthew) Koll, Brian (Brianna) Schenkelberg, Kristina Schenkelberg, Amy (Corey) Anderson and Brad Schenkelberg; eight great-grandchildren, Parker, Eli, Jaxton, Natalie, Oscar, Fiona, Maggie and Landen; a brother, Ivan (Betty) Fahy of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, LeOrra Fahy of Muscatine, Lucille (Joe) Koenig of Cedar Rapids, Mary Jane (Floyd) Goecke of Omaha, Neb., Margaret Burke of Des Moines and Pauline Schenkelberg of Halbur; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Arbutus, Richard and Robert and Eunice Fahy.
Marie was born on Oct. 28, 1923, the daughter of Walter and Ida Eberling Fahy. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1941 and moved to Cedar Rapids from Mason City in 1969. Marie married Richard John Schenkelberg on June 5, 1950, in Iowa City. He died in 2004. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Marie was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was always happy to be at home with her family and enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies as special treats for her grandchildren.
