Marie T. Lane, 93, a resident of The Meth-Wick Community, passed away Jan. 23, 2015, at The Woodlands. A prayer service will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a visitation from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, with a visitation beginning an hour before, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Entombment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Elisabeth (George) Hasley of Hastings, Neb., and Anne-Marie (Timothy) Murphy of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (William) Sislo, Brian (Kathryn) Hasley, Angela (George) Pogorzelski, Theresa (Jon) Bauman, Danielle (Christopher) Repp, Sean (Natasha) Murphy and Ryan (Alicia) Murphy; 16 great-grandchildren, Helaina, Caroline and Edward Sislo, Luke and Margaret Hasley, George and Frank Pogorzelski, Lola and Noelle Bauman, Oliver and Stuart Repp, Emma (Dan) Murray Coughlin, Patrick and Ellen Murphy, Regan and Reid Murphy; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Jacques and Edith Rowell of Paris, France, and Madelyn Lane of Redlands, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother and sister-in-law, Andre and Audrey Rowell; her brother-in-law, Morris Lane; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth Lane Reimers and William Reimers.
Marie Therese Rowell Lane was born Feb. 26, 1921, to Richard and Gabrielle Puyo Rowell in Paris, France. She was united in marriage to Paul E. Lane on July 26, 1945, in Paris. Marie worked for Rockwell Collins for 26 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Marie was a kind and caring person who always put the needs and comfort of others before her own. She dearly loved little children and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was extremely proud of her French heritage and enjoyed sharing her language and culture with others. She was equally proud of her American citizenship and was very knowledgeable of the history of the United States. She and Paul liked to travel. They returned to France often and vacationed throughout the U.S.
Her many interests included knitting, crocheting, music, reading, cooking and gardening.
The family wants to give special thanks to the staff at the Manor, Arbor Place and The Woodlands at Meth-Wick for the wonderful care they provided to Marie these past eight years.
