Marie E. Kreeb, 97, of Dyersville, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville after a brief illness. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, where a parish vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.
Marie was born July 26, 1917, in Castle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of John "Jack" and Elizabeth (Jasper) Dempsey. She married Raymond H. Kreeb on June 22, 1936, in Monticello.
Survivors include her children, Jack (Janet) Kreeb, Patty Kramer and Bill (Kay) Kreeb, all of Dyersville, and Mike (Colleen) Kreeb of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Kate Hageman of Marion; and a brother-in-law, Charles Kreeb of Coralville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray in 1995; a son-in-law, Robert "Gar" Kramer; siblings, Viola (Leo) Chapman, Charlie and Clarence Dempsey, Lucille (Pat) Seehusen and Georgene (Robert) Brokens; and in-laws, Louise (Art) Holub, Marie (Bub) Bowling, Fred (Sylvia) Kreeb, Ralph Hageman and Eunice Kreeb.
Memorials are preferred to St. Francis Xavier Basilica and/or St. Francis Xavier Grade School.
