Marie E. Krueger, 102, of Marion, died peacefully Friday, June 28, 2024, at Hiawatha Care Center. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, at Palo Cemetery.
Marie Emilie was born November 17, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Jerry Frank and Emilie Marie (Pospisil) Janacek. Marie only spoke Czech until attending school. She graduated from Wilson School. Marie married John August Krueger on April 27, 1940, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. John and Marie farmed for many years. Later she worked in sales at Hawkeye Seed until retirement. Marie enjoyed her family, traveling, camping, and crocheting. She will be remembered for making kolaches and telling her life stories. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marie is survived by her children Pat (Jerry) Cameron and Earl Krueger; grandchildren Cindy (Randy) Sherman and Diane (Jeff) Pflughaupt; great-grandchildren Heidi Sherman, Ty (Allie) Sherman, Austin (Taylor) Pflughaupt and Trever (Sara) Pflughaupt; great-great-grandchildren Lincoln and Brecken Oltmann, Kaden and Jordan Pflughaupt, Caleb Pflughaupt, and Hank Sherman.
She is preceded in death by her husband John; brothers Jerry Jr., Charles, Louis, and William; sisters Frances and Anna; daughter in law LuAnne Krueger; sisters-in-law Inez, Shirley, and Sally; and several brothers-in-law.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous in Marie’s honor.
