Marie was devoted to her family of two daughters, Pat Ament of Cedar Rapids and Shirley (Don) Lewis of Kalona; a son, Byron (Norma) Clark of Cedar Rapids; eight grand-children, 12 great-grand-children and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, George, who died in 2009; an infant son, Richard; a sister, Doris Allen; a brother, Alfred Quass; and a son-in-law, Glenn Ament.
Marie Quass was born the daughter of George and Laura McMahon Quass on Nov. 9, 1912, in Benton County. She graduated from Palo High School and the Cedar Rapids Business College. Marie married George Franklin Clark on Aug. 13, 1933, at Lincoln Evangelical Church in rural Palo and devoted her life caring for her children while helping her husband on the family farm.
