Marie Capron, 95, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Katherine Franzenburg and Larry Lamont will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has been entrusted with Marie's care and services. Surviving are four children, Marjorie (Willie) Eilers, Elverna (Gary) Hoffman, John (Wendy) Capron, all of Anamosa, and Sandra (Richard) Merfeld, Tama; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Jean Kuach, Cedar Rapids, and Helen Seaton, Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvern (Jiggs) Capron, in 2004; her stepmother, Frieda Capron; three brothers, Albert, Carl and Emil Oltmanns; and an infant sister, Dorothea.
Marie Margaret Oltmanns was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Cass Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was the daughter of John H. and Meta M. Hinrichs Oltmanns. She received her education in the rural schools near her home. Marie Oltmanns and Elvern Capron were married Feb. 20, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Marie was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. She was baptized on Feb. 28, 1922, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church, Castle Grove, and confirmed her faith on Aug. 11, 1935, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa.
