MARIAN FORRER YOUNG
Cedar Rapids
Marian Forrer Young died peacefully Monday, July 5, 2021, after a brief illness surrounded by the unconditional love she bestowed on her family. There is no service planned. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, assisted the family.
She was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Wilson and Ruth (Daugherty) Forrer. Marian received a degree in education from Bowling Green State University and was a lifelong teacher in Cedar Rapids and Chicago. Marian also gave back to her community through the L.I. Chapter of P.E.O. Cedar Rapids, a nonprofit organization that helps women pursue educational goals. She faithfully served as chapter treasurer. Marian loved her family more than anything. She treasured her role as wife, mother and grandma.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John of Cedar Rapids; sons, Matthew of San Diego, Calif., and Jay (Jennifer) of Evansville, Ind.; and brothers, Jim Forrer (Marti) of Michigan and Daniel Forrer (Mary) of Ohio. Her legacy lives through her granddaughter, Harper Romayne Young, 11, of Evansville.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson (1994) and Ruth (1985) Forrer, both of Cleveland, Ohio.
The family thanks the staff at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha for their compassion.
In lieu of donations and gifts, do what Marian would do: admire your own backyard. Find your family. Find that friend you lost touch with. Tell them you love them. Tell them now, always tell them now.
Please share a memory of Marian and view additional photos at a later date at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
