Marian L. (Orms) Burns, 92, of Marion, resident of Willow Gardens, woke up Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, 2015, to greet the day one last time, then passed away. Private burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Howard George Burns of Hiawatha; a daughter, Judy Lee Deal of Marion; grandchildren, Gail (Dave) Crane, Brian Deal, Sonja (Robert) Sammons and Brenda (Timothy) Davis; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Alberta) Burkhart of Cedar Rapids and Dale Burkhart of Victor, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton; and brothers, Howard Orms and Donald Burkhart.
Marian was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Keota, Iowa, daughter of Jack and Anna (Fry) Orms. She married Clayton Burns on Aug. 3, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. After retirement, Marian and her husband established a mobile home park along the Salmon River near Salmon, Idaho, to accommodate the local loggers and their families.
Marian was a member of the Quilting Club in Belle Plaine, associated with the local Belle Plaine church. She loved her family and her grand-children and was an avid bowler, loved needlework, canning, baking, garden-ing, stuffed animals and jewelry.
