MARGUERITE D. STOCKMAN

Marguerite D. Stockman, 96, of Oxford, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Colonial Manor of Amana. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oxford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Edmond Dunn officiating. Following the Mass, there will be a luncheon in St. Mary's Auditorium. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Reach for Your Potential or Mount Calvary Cemetery Association.
Marguerite was born on May 24, 1921, in Cosgrove, Iowa, to Thomas and Catherine (Burns) Meade. She graduated from Cosgrove Consolidated School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. Marguerite taught in the Clear Creek #4 and Oxford #10 rural schools, and also Tiffin and Madison Elementary. She was united in marriage to Merle "Tuck" Stockman on Jan. 20, 1943, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Cosgrove. Together they farmed near Oxford for the next 65 years. Marguerite was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford, the Altar and Rosary Society, and National Catholic Society of Foresters St. Theresa Court. She was a former member of the Johnson County Saddle Club, the Johnson County Pony Association and the monthly card club. Marguerite received the state of Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award. She was inducted into the Clear Creek Amana Hall of Fame. Marguerite liked antiques and refinishing furniture.
Marguerite is survived by her six children, Jean Ash (Robert) of Roseville, Calif., William Stockman of Oxford, Rick Stockman (Margaret) of Tiffin, Kathleen Zimmerman of Cambridge, Iowa, Patty Sann (Dwight) of Clarion, Iowa, and Randy Stockman (Deborah) of Goddard, Kan.; grandchildren, Amy (Andrew) Reed and their children, Finley, Basil, and Julian Reed; Ryan Ash, Christopher Stockman, Brian (Carrie) Stockman and their children, Brayden, Bryson, and Broox Stockman; Cam (Mindy) Stockman and their children, Greta and Cash Stockman; Meagan Brunssen, Morgan (Aaron) Rockwell, Wyatt (Danielle) Stockman, Jossie Stockman, Trenton Stockman, Nathan (Shallon) Stockman and their children, Alexander, Edward and Jonathan Stockman, and Daniel (Julia) Stockman and their son, Clark Stockman; sisters-in-law, Thelma Meade and Eileen Stockman; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to her.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; husband, Tuck Stockman; son-in-law, Michael Zimmerman; daughter-in-law, Janet Stockman; and 10 siblings, Mary Ball, J. Robert Meade, Ralph Meade, Genevive Mann, Leona Meade, Alice Kuebrich, Lucile Stimmel, Helen Bryant, Thomas Meade and Joe Meade.
