Marguerite M. "Peggy" Johnson, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call
at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Ruth Darling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Leland Williams; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy was born Dec. 2, 1928, in Mechanicsville, the daughter of Russell and Alwilda Woolison Williams. Shortly after high school she moved to Cedar Rapids to work at Collins Radio, where she remained employed until her retirement in 1985. She married William H. Johnson on Sept. 10, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. William passed away in 2013. Peggy enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, gardening, watching TV and especially the time spent with her beloved family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the following charities: American Lung Association, ARC, Discovery Living or various U.S. Military organizations.
