Margie A. Hansen, 82, of Fairfax, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fairfax.
Margie was born Aug. 9, 1936, in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of Stanley and Margaret (Nielsen) Birch. She graduated from Marcus High School. Margie married Eldon Hansen and the couple later divorced. She was a bus driver and a paraprofessional in special education for College Community, retiring in 2000.
Margie was a five-star family cook who even did some catering on the side with the help of her family. She loved to travel to Kalona to shop and go sightseeing, and also to northwest Iowa to visit her cousins. Margie enjoyed every moment she could spend with her family. Margie will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Mary) Hansen of Cedar Rapids, Karen Busch of Fairfax, Brad (Terrie) Hansen of Omaha, Neb., Debra Hansen of Cedar Rapids, Brenda (Joe) Kell of Fairfax, Chris (Melissa) Hansen of Fairfax and Joel (Jenny) Hansen of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Michael John, Matt, Andrea, Elizabeth, Tara, Melissa, Colby, Jarrad, Erin, Adam, Sean, Sawyer, Riley, Cooper, Jacob and Joshua; eight great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Janice Clark.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, LaVerne and David.
