Margery "Rosey" Kay Janssen, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by family.
A private service will be held at a later date. She was a member of Iowa Cremation.
Margie "Rosey" was born July 21, 1941, in Oelwein, Iowa. She was the daughter of Floyd and Ethel (Spencer) Ebers. She attended several high schools because her father was a schoolteacher/coach/shop teacher. She attended college later in life. Margie "Rosey" worked various jobs throughout her life, but mostly as a licensed Realtor/broker for 20 years before retiring. She also was well known in the Cedar Rapids area as the "Bag Lady" her company entities restored fixer-upper homes in rundown neighborhoods. She was one of the first registered female contractors in Iowa. She developed and platted properties, such as Lake Crest Manor, located in Solon. She was the developer of Janssen Estates, located off Otis Road in Cedar Rapids; she designed and built the first six original homes there.
She showed horses for over 30 years throughout the state and nation and was an original charter member of the Iowa Girls Barrel Racing Association. She won many rodeo queen contests, including the Tri-State Championship Rodeo at Fort Madison and also the Aksarben Rodeo.
Her proudest achievement was being the mother of three wonderful children whom she raised mostly alone.
Margie "Rosey" is survived by two daughters, Elaina (Dennis) Kriegel of Coggon and Carolyn Trinkle of Vinton; one son, Roger (Joanne Davis) Bauer of St. Germain, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, Nathan (Nicole) and Sarah Trinkle, Tyler Trinkle-Pender, Dawn and Jesseca Zaruba, Brandon (Brooke) and Shannon Kriegel, Dusty (Tyler) Persinger, Patrick Bauer, Allyn, Sean and Josee Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Brenna, Issak and Raylee Trinkle, Eva Zaruba, Brayden and Brady Kriegel; five sisters, Carole, Sandra, Jann, Pam and Cisco; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Daryl.
Margie "Rosey" was born to Tom and Mary Boleyn, one of eight children, (six sisters and one brother) whom she was excited to be reunited with later in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry Crawford; sister, Terri Ann Mattocks; and her cat of 14 years, Princess Di.
