Margaret A. Wheeler, 80, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar
Rapids. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Private inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Waverly, Mo., to Hubert and Chloe (Wynne) Lynn. After graduating from high school, Margaret was united in marriage to John C. "Pinky" Wheeler on Aug. 5, 1955, also in Waverly. To this union, two children were born.
Margaret worked as a secretary to the Cedar Rapids Police Department for 19 years until her retirement. She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ. Margaret was an avid square dancer and enjoyed sewing.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband, John "Pinky;" son, Gregory Wheeler of Rochester, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Tana Wheeler-Cart, Darren Wheeler-Elm and Jake Elm.
Preceding her in death were her parents and son, Michael Wheeler.
A memorial fund in Margaret's honor has been established.
