MARGRET ANN SIEBELS

Margret Ann Siebels, 88, died Saturday evening, May 7, 2016, at Pinicon Place, Anamosa, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 10 until noon Thursday at the church. The Rev. Katie Lowe Lancaster will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has been entrusted with the services. Surviving are four children, Mark (Carol) of Sheridan, Ill., Steve (Diana) of Gainesville, Mo., Janiece (Mike) Ford of Hiawatha and Gordon (Anne) of Anamosa; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria (Tom) Byrne; and a brother, Lorance (Nancy) Weers, both of Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis, in 1987; a son, Larry, in 1982; two sisters, Jeanette Shields and Lorna Templeton; and a brother, Vernon Weers.
Margret Ann Weers was born June 22, 1927, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Hanna (Cordes) Weers. Margret graduated from Anamosa High School in 1944. She married Louis Siebels on Dec. 20, 1945, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Anamosa area. Margret worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone, the Anamosa Public Library, where she was part of the reading program for children, and the Anamosa Care Center.
Margret was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Antioch Circle and a 4-H leader for the Jackson Wise Owls. Margret was devoted to her family, loved to read, wrote poetry, painted, did a variety of crafts, calligraphy and was an accomplished seamstress. She was an avid card player, especially euchre, any time any where.
