MARGARET (MARGE) DESOUSA SATERN
Cedar Rapids
Margaret (Marge) DeSousa Satern was born May 22, 1922, in Aurora, Ill., to Carl and Myrtle Krull, the third of four children. She died peacefully at age 95 on Nov. 20, 2017. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Cedar Valley Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. There will be a private family burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was united in marriage to Frank DeSousa from Aug. 18, 1943, until his passing on Sept. 14, 1988. They were blessed with five children: Ray (Tamuna) DeSousa, Phil (Delores) DeSousa, Mary (Frank) Trimble, Kate (Ray) Lett and Joel (Sue) DeSousa.
On Dec. 6, 1997, she married Richard (Dick) Satern and added four stepchildren to her family: Mark Satern, Miriam Satern, Monte (Karen) Satern and Mary (Mark) Sarchett. Marge treasured her 16 grandkids, 18 great-grandkids and one great-great-grandson.
In February 2017, Marge and Dick left Toddville and moved into Prairie Hills Senior Living in Cedar Rapids. Dick passed away April 4, 2017. Marge continued to live at Prairie Hills, where she developed friendships with other residents and had a close relationship with the caring nurses and staff members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank DeSousa; second husband, Richard Satern; her son, Phil; great-grandson, Owen Lett; brothers, Robert Krull and Ralph Krull (and his wife, Frieda); and brother-in-law, Richard Hornback.
Margaret's life was anchored in her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. She loved God, her family, her many friends and the Chicago Cubs.
