Margaret Ruth (Barta) Cones, 75 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Monday, December 15, 2025 at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids. No services will be held. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisted the family.
Margaret was born February 11, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Kramer) Barta. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Margaret served her country in the United States Army during Vietnam. She was united in marriage to William Cones on September 27, 1986 in Cedar Rapids. She worked at the University of Iowa and was a member of St. Patrick's Church. Margaret loved cats, arts and crafts.
She is survived by her husband William Cones, children Melissa Cones, Shane Simmons, siblings Charles Barta (Sheila), Joann Rice, Katie Barta, Paul Barta, Jean (Barta) Johnson, Matt (Pam) Barta, many nieces & nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, sisters Lynda Goodell & Eileen Sylvester & brother Jon Barta.
