Margaret "Peggy" Gleason, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Manor Care. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday.
COVID-19 guidelines require everyone to wear masks and practice social distancing.
Peggy is survived by her son, Robert (Peggy) Gleason of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Cathy Cresswell of Austin, Texas; four granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-children; and her brother, David (Tess) Wilkinson of San Antonio, Texas.
Peggy was preceded in death by her son, Steven Gleason, in 1982; a sister and brother; and a great great-granddaughter, Catalina.
Margaret was born Sept. 15, 1932, in Tama the daughter of Wesley and Dorothy Smith Wilkinson. She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids in 1950, and married Elmer Dale Gleason on June 10, 1950. They were later divorced.
Peggy was known by her family and friends to be one of the kindest and most decent mothers, grandmothers, aunts and friends who ever walked the earth. Most remarkable was the grace that she lived out after the loss of her beloved son, Steve. She inspired faith and love in all she knew.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
