Margaret Patnode, 90, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at Jones Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa,
with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home. A parish vigil service will be at 1:30 p.m.

Surviving are five children, Mary Anne (Lyle) Dunkel, John (Sue) Patnode, C.J. (Deb) Patnode and Therese (Harold) Bickford, all of Anamosa, and Libby Ammeter, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Mary; and two brothers, Clayton and Donald.
Florence Margaret Healy was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Tasker Healy. Margaret graduated from Viola High School in 1941. On Sept. 3, 1941, Margaret married Bernard Patnode at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stone City. Margaret worked as an insurance agent starting with the Humpal Agency and later with Stolz Insurance Agency. She retired in 1989. Margaret was well known as a seamstress, knitter and a crocheter.
Margaret was always ready for a good card game, and really enjoyed playing poker. She always enjoyed a trip to one of the area casinos or to play bingo somewhere.
