Margaret Zoe McIntyre, 93, of East Moline, Ill., passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Ill. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with burial in Mount Moriahat Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Margaret was born June 18, 1920, in Sycamore, Ohio, to Dale and Leota Ankney. She married Clarence C. McIntyre Aug. 31, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. They moved to Lincoln, Neb., and later to Cedar Rapids, where they spent many happy and productive years raising two children. Mac, her husband, was station manager for United Airlines at the local airport where he developed United's presence in the area during its infancy.
Margaret was very active in the United Women at St.Paul's Methodist Church and volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital. She was a member of the PEO chapter in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed travel, sewing, crafts, box puzzles and playing various card games. She was a math wiz and enjoyed her ability to solve crossword puzzles. Margaret loved her family. She moved to Moline, Ill., in 2004 to be closer to family after Mac died in 2001. She was active in her church and volunteered at Illini Hospital in Silvis, Ill.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Richard) Henry of East Moline, Il.; granddaughters, Melissa (Bert) McNaught of Moline and Hollie (Joel) Pick of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Peter, Abigail and Matthew McNaught and Noah, Olivia, Isaiah and Elijah Pick; sister, Alice (Ray) Ralston of Pemberville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac; son, David; parents; and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, Ill.
