Margaret Janice Swenka passed away Oct. 29 at Country Aire Retirement Estates, in Lewistown, MO.
She was born Oct. 22nd, 1938, the youngest child of John L. Madden and Lillie Mae (Curry) Madden. She was united in marriage to Marvin P. Swenka on august 25th, 1957 in La Belle, MO. To this union 4 daughters were born. They were married for 67 years, until Marvin’s death on Oct. 8th, 2024.
Margaret was a homemaker as well as supporting the family business. Margie enjoyed many things, her large vegetable garden, tending to her flowers, country music, cook outs with family and friends, reading, her cats, traveling out west with Marvin and always her flea markets and hunting for a bargain. She will be forever missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Tom) Groff of Lewistown, MO, Laura Holeton of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kimberly Swenka of Springfield, IL, and Lisa (Randy) Oelberg of Charles City, IA, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also, sisters-in-laws Marlene Votroubek, Cedar Rapids, IA, Marie Scott of Canton, MO, Sharon (Benny) Scott of Williamstown, MO, Mary Barner of Munden, KS, and brother-in-law Edward Swenka of Benton Harbor, MI.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 7 sisters and their spouses, and baby Madden.
Joint services will be held for Margaret and Marvin at 10 AM on Saturday, Nov. 23rd, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing, MO. Private family burial in Midway Cemetery in Lewiston, MO.
