Margaret "Marge" Leona Ellis, 93, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Tipton, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, while under the care of the Clarence Nursing Home. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30, starting at
2 p.m. for the visitation and the service at
3 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Ron Lashmit officiating. Cremation will follow and interment of remains will
be at a future date in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Marge was born on July 4, 1928, in Albia, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Emma Henderson Dicks. Margaret married Veryl R. Zippe in 1951 and this marriage brought forth two children, Sandy and Dennis. In 1990, Marge was married to Tom Ellis in Cedar Rapids. Marge was the owner of the E Avenue Tap in Cedar Rapids for many years until the devastation of the flood of 2008 closed her business. Marge moved to Tipton where she could be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. She lived in the Tipton Senior Park for four years until her health declined and then moved into the Clarence Nursing Home for further care.
Marge is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Denny and April Zippe of Tipton, Iowa; special friend, Sharon (Don) Stewart of Clarence, Iowa; granddaughters, Chelsea (Tod) Gottschalk of Tipton, Iowa, Kaysea Zippe (Harry Harkins) of Clarence, Iowa, and Mariah (Michael) Haedike of Lowden, Iowa; several great-grandkids; her sister, Janice Dicks of Albia, Iowa; along with her four-legged child, Abby, who now lives at home with Denny and April.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma; her daughter, Sandy Zippe; her second husband, Tom Ellis; her sisters, Ruth Tudor, Esther Stephens and Grace Bloodsworth; and her brother, Clarence Dicks.
