She later moved with her family to Rochester, Minn., where she graduated from Rochester High School and married her high school sweetheart, Charles Lenihan, on June 30, 1940. She was involved in numerous local organizations, including the Rebekah's; the American Legion Auxiliary; the Iowa City Senior Center, where she was a past member of its board of Elders; and the Old Capital Chapter of the A.B.W.A., where she was named "woman of the year" in 1994. She loved making quilts with the quilting group at the senior center and she loved to play bridge and was involved with a number of bridge groups.
Margaret is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Lenihan (Peter Wait) of Las Vegas, N.M.; three sons, John (Irene) of Cotter, Ark., William (Jacquelyn) of Solon and James of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Sean (Mandy) Lenihan of Hernando, Miss., Laura Lenihan Hickman of Postville, Jason (Khayala) Lenihan of Baku, Azerbaijan, and Olivia Lenihan of North Liberty; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
