Margaret Rae (Vaughn) Krska, 97, longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died April 25, 2014, at Northbrook Manor Care Center with a cherished friend, Annabel Mollenhaur, at her side.
Margaret Rae was born June 4, 1916, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, daughter of Rae and Grace (Mann) Vaughn. She graduated from the Mason City, Iowa, grammar and high school, furthering her education at Iowa State University, where she met her husband, Ralph C. Krska. Both graduated in 1940. They were married in 1941 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., by Pastor D.R. Wassen of First United Methodist Church.
Margaret Rae was survived by her sister-in-law, True Rosser Vaughn;
nephew, Tom Vaughn of Fort Worth, Texas; cousins Kenneth Vaughn, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Betty Jean Hinton Scharpenter, St. Charles, Ill.; longtime neighbor Beverly Adelson; and her dear friend,
Annabel Mollenhaur.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1986; her parents; brother
Richard E. Vaughn; and nephew
Michael E. Vaughn.
A memorial service will be Thursday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stew Royce of Noelridge Christian Church presiding. Burial will follow at Oak Hill
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous, located at 12007 190th St., Monticello, IA 52310.
