MARGARET KAUT
Center Point
Margaret L. (Hendryx) Kaut, 78, of Center Point, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, conducted by Pastor Melanie VanWeelden. Fam-ily will greet friends an hour before the service. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Tom of Cedar Rapids; three children, Lyle (Kelly) Kaut of Center Point, Barbara (James) Driscoll of Cedar Rapids and Jon (Chari) Kaut of Palo; one sister, Geraldine (Joseph) Healy of Vinton; eight grandchildren, Roger, Thomas, Jennifer, Brian, Mallorie, McKenna, Heather and Heidi; 10 great-grandchildren; and her faithful companion, Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Kaut; and three brothers, Don, Mike and Jerry.
Margaret was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Center Point, daughter of Lloyd and Inez (Pickering) Hendryx. She graduated from Center Point High School in 1953. She graduated from Capri College of Cosmetology and operated her own salon for many years. On Sep. 25, 1955, she married Thomas E. Kaut in Vinton.
In 1984, Margaret became a rural postal carrier. Margaret was an active member of the Alice United Methodist Church, Center Point American Legion Dye Benion Post 297 Auxiliary, the Red Hats, and several gardening clubs. She was a very active volunteer for many organizations.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous in Monticello, Olivet Mission in Cedar Rapids, Alice United Methodist Church in Center Point or American Legion Dye Benion Post 297 in Center Point.
