MARGARET JEAN DIEDRICHSEN

Margaret Jean Diedrichsen, 91, of Tipton, died peacefully in Cedar Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Memorials graciously given will be directed to either Cedar Manor, Tipton Ambulance or the First United Church of Christ. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Margaret was born on June 13, 1926, in Marshall County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Elmer Adolf and Ella Etta Vogt Ramer. Margaret graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa (Iowa State Teachers College). Margaret's first year of teaching was in a one-room school, and then she taught third and fourth grades in Green Mountain and Tipton. Margaret was a teacher, volunteer, wife and mother, and has been a member of the First United Church of Christ since she and her husband, Bill, moved to Tipton in 1951.
Margaret was united in marriage to William (Bill) Edward Diedrichsen on Aug. 1, 1948, in Marshalltown, Iowa, and they shared 65 years together as husband and wife. Margaret is survived by her three children, Mike (Carol) Diedrichsen of Chatham, Ill., Steve (Ellen) Diedrichsen of Des Moines, Iowa, and Ann Diedrichsen of Tipton; and her brother, Bob (Pat) Ramer of Leesburg, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on Feb. 2, 2014; and her parents, Elmer and Ella Ramer. Margaret always was willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
