Margaret "Aunt Margaret" Caywood, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at the funeral home. Interment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Margaret is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorene Cook; and her nieces and nephews including, Julie (Bob) Burgin, Sally (Jim) Hehlke, Lori (Scott) Berry, Kathy (Steve) Stickley and Brenda Quick, all of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; and her brother, Jack Cook.
Margaret was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jackson and Blanch (Demory) Cook. She attended Roosevelt High School. She married Earl J. Caywood on June 20, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He passed away in 1996. Margaret worked for Souvenir Pencil Co. and Arnold's Clothing Store before becoming a full-time homemaker. Margaret was a member of the Elks Lodge and VFW Post No. 788 Auxiliary. In her youth, Margaret was involved in a traveling dance troupe. She enjoyed her time at the bingo table as well as playing poker and 500.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the hospice staff at UnityPoint, Cedar Rapids.
