MARGARET ANNE (BENZ) CHAISSON

Margaret Anne (Benz) Chaisson, 70, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. John Flaherty. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was born on Sept. 12, 1951, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Jeanne (Metz) Benz. She graduated from Linn Mar High School and went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa. Margaret was united in marriage to James David Chaisson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. To this union, three children were born, Erick, Karen, and Adam. She was a very dedicated homemaker and mother; her family was most important to her. Margaret worked for Farmers State Bank in Marion and in underwriting at Principal Financial Group. She was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, sang in the choir, was a former Eucharistic Minister, and helped found the church's quilt group and the children's choir. Margaret enjoyed crafting, oil painting, and attending craft bazaars. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margaret is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Jim Chaisson of Marion; three children, Erick Chaisson of Michigan, Karen (Brian) Hurst of Cabot, Ark., and Adam Chaisson of Marion; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Raleigh (Jody) Benz of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Debi Benz-Buchholz of Ankeny, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
Memorials in Margaret's name may be directed to Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center in Hiawatha, Iowa.
