Margaret Ann Kirk, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Center Point, Iowa, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, surrounded by her children. Private family services will be held at Alice Cemetery near Center Point. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Margaret was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Wilbur and Iola (Wirtner) Eldred. She graduated from Center Point High School. Margaret was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee "Bob" Kirk, on Aug. 18, 1950, at Alice United Methodist Church in Center Point. She worked as a secretary for Collins Aerospace until her retirement. Margaret enjoyed reading and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She had a great sense of humor. Margaret will be missed by those who love her.
She raised four children with wit and humor: Kevin (Sheila) Kirk of Birmingham, Ala., Karen Kirk, Kendall Kirk (Jerry Pappas) and Karla Kirk, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and granddog, Prince Kirk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Iola Eldred; husband of 67 years, Bob Kirk; sister, Jeane Elgin; and brother, Robert Eldred.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to UnityPoint Hospice, especially Lindsey and Linda from St. Luke's inpatient hospice for their attentive care and compassion during Margaret's final hours.
