Margaret A. Behrens, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away after a long illness at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. A private family service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Margaret was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Iowa City, to William and Lillian (Boots) Meyers. She was married to Robert L. Behrens in 1953. Their union was blessed with three children. Margaret was very active in the raising of her children and later, her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her family, especially going fishing.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Christopher (Elaine) Behrens, Lynette (Rick) Gaffey-Sexton and Michael Behrens; grandchildren, Lacey (Patrick) Gorman, Ali Arnold, Austin Behrens, Cody Behrens, Amanda (Justin) Held, Mitchell (Katie) Gaffey, Molly Gaffey, Matthew Behrens and Natasha Behrens-Sion; as well as four great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian; her beloved husband, Robert; sister, Leona Pettit; and brothers, William Meyers, Emil Meyers, Emery Meyers and Donald Meyers.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Oldorf, specifically Pam, for their care of Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House.
