Maresh, Rosemary Evelyn
Rosemary Evelyn Maresh, 91, of Ely, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. As per Rosemary's wishes, private family services will be held. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Rosemary was born May 23, 1922, in Walford, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Buchtela) Houser. She married Lloyd James Maresh on May 17, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and the American Legion Auxiliary. Rosemary and Lloyd enjoyed many years of traveling and wintering in Texas and Arizona after Lloyd's retirement in 1977. Rosemary enjoyed bingo, card games and visiting with her friends.
Rosemary is survived by her children, David (Joyce) Maresh and Larry (Sandra) Maresh, both of Swisher, Rhonda Hanson (Donn Johnson) of Homosassa, Fla., Carol (Joe) Eldeen-Todesco of Fort Pierce, Fla., Ramona Maresh (Bob Verry) of Iowa City, Russell (Barb) Maresh of Ely, Rebecca Wade of Fort Madison and Ranelle Meyer of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Rita (Otis) Sebastian of Newhall; two brothers, Francis (Kate) Houser of Cedar Rapids and Lumir Houser of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lloyd Maresh; a daughter, Reyne Patterson; sons-in-law, Richard Hanson and Robert Wade; a grandson, Carl Maresh; a granddaughter, Angela Alderman; and two brothers Otto and Leonard Houser.
Memorials may be directed to either hospice or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
